Veterinarians
Hardy Dungan , DVM |
Dr.
Dungan is a 1983 graduate of Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine
where he earned the Dean’s Award and graduated first in his class. He has owned and operated his veterinary
practice in Bourbon
County since
graduation. He is certified by the
American Embryo Transfer Association has a Master’s Degree in Human Forensic
Science. He regularly consults with the
Kentucky State Medical Examiner’s Office and the Kentucky State Police as an
animal cruelty investigator. Dr. Dungan
is the current Chairman of the Board for the Bourbon County Health Department.
Dr. Dungan’s interests are
orthopedic surgery and equine reproduction.
Dr. Dungan is an avid scuba diver and underwater photographer. He has
achieved the rank of Divemaster within the professional PADI scuba
organization.
He has 4 children-2 boys and 2
girls. His oldest son is a concert pianist, graduating with a Master’s degree from the University of KY.
His youngest son is a graduate of Samford School of Pharmacy in Birmingham, AL.
His oldest daughter is a graduate of Eastern KY University and the Executive
Director of Happy Tails Organization. His youngest daughter is a senior in high
school.

Kendra B Ewalt , DVM |
Dr. Ewalt received her degree in veterinary medicine from
Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. Before moving to Paris in 2001, she owned and
operated her own mobile veterinary practice in Versailles, KY In 2001, she joined practice with Dr. Hardy
Dungan. Their veterinary practice was a
mobile large animal practice until opening a full-service clinic in July of
2005.
Dr. Ewalt’s
interests are general medicine, surgery, diagnostics and client education. She has extensive experience treating alpacas
and llamas throughout Kentucky. She frequently performs duties as an alpaca
show veterinarian, gives educational seminars for the community and schools,
and provides mentoring to aspiring veterinarians and veterinary technicians.
Dr. Ewalt is married to John
Ewalt. They have 2 children & a
son-in-law—Kate & Cullen Bailey and a 6-year old daughter, Gracie, in kindergarten. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time
with her family, riding horses & working cattle from horseback, researching
her family history/genealogy, gardening, antiquing, and the outdoors. She is an avid hunter and enjoys working and
training her dogs. She has one cat—Rooster;
three Labradors—Raider, Teaspoon, and Tommie; a horse—Joe; and a few sheep.

Reception Staff
Lisa Harris Lisa joined our staff in February 2008. She is our primary receptionist and helps to keep things running smoothly in the clinic. She is a great asset to our staff.
Lisa is a lifelong Bourbon County resident. She has a daughter, Brooke. Lisa enjoys spending time with family and friends, scrapbooking, and is very active in church.
Lorrain Smoot Lorrain is a long-time Millersburg resident. She loves animals and is an exceptionally caring person to our patients and their owners. She always wears a happy face. Lorrain is married to John Smoot. They have 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren. They have 2 dogs, Sweetheart & Beauty. Lorrain enjoys spending time with family and friends, helping those that need assistance, UK athletics, and is very active in the community.
Technician & Nursing Staff
Darrell Leggett Darrell has been with Central Kentucky Veterinary Services since prior to the clinic opening in 2005. He was instrumental in getting the new clinic remodeled and open for business. Since that time he has been a valuable asset to the business as both a veterinary assistant and "fixer of all things." Our clients appreciate Darrell's mild manner and devotion to all animals. Darrell has been married to his wife Vickie for more than 30 years. They have a son, daughter-in-law, and a new grandson, Dalton. They have a boxer named Duke.
